Australia’s previously more unusual intake of clean petroleum products from Europe looks set to continue in July, extending the trend of recent months.

The number of clean oil product tankers moving from Europe to Australia so far this year – carrying mostly gasoline/blending components – surpasses that of recent years, according to observed  movements by Vortexa.

While the pace of this flow recently slowed from January-April levels, at least one tanker was seen moving on the route in May, and again in June.

The long-range (LR2)-sized tanker Seriana departed from Amsterdam in mid-June and is currently broadcasting its next destination as Botany Bay, Australia, where it could discharge its cargo towards the end of this month.

Meanwhile the mid-May-loaded cargo also from Amsterdam aboard LR2 SKS Demini arrived this week to Botany Bay.

Gasoline stocks in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) were supported in mid-to-late June by higher reported refinery output and a dip in export flows, but stocks have declined since, potentially limiting similar arbitrage movements.
