A cargo of Greek bitumen recently made a relatively irregular voyage to west Africa, Vortexa data show.

The medium-range (MR)-sized Palanca Maputo loaded bitumen from Agioi Theodoroi in Greece towards the end of March and has arrived to Lome, Togo.

From Togo, it can be expected to conduct ship-to-ship transfers onto smaller vessels that can move material into Nigeria for use in construction and road infrastructure activity.

The last time a cargo of this size was seen moving from Greece to west Africa was in June last year.

Greek bitumen more typically heads to its primary market of Egypt, and elsewhere across the eastern Mediterranean. Primary suppliers of bitumen into west Africa are Spain, Greece, Italy and Iran.
