4, April 2022 – LondonVortexa today announced a data partnership with Siglar Carbon, which  will make  its carbon efficiency analytics available alongside Vortexa analytics.

Every year, there is over 2 Trillion USD of energy trade and movement on water globally.  This movement is mostly conducted with limited amounts of information amounting to inefficiencies across both the allocation and operations of energy resulting in a significant economical and ecological impact.  In addition, there is increased pressure coming from the EU Emissions Trading System scheme in 2023 and the net zero commitments made by market participants forcing them to look at ways to drastically decrease current global carbon emissions across waterborne flows.

The digital decarbonization journey of chartering is complex and involves deep data collection and quality assurances, the need for full emissions overview and extensive carbon compliance and reporting as well as carbon efficient voyage planning and execution.  The integration of Siglar Carbon’s carbon efficiency analytics with Vortexa’s real-time speed and predicted destination freight analytics will empower energy and freight market participants with the ability to make the most carbon efficient decisions when it comes to chartering and trading opportunities, ultimately benefiting society as a whole.

Fabio Kuhn, Vortexa’s CEO said: “Our partnership with Siglar enables energy and freight market participants to start factoring carbon efficiency alongside Vortexa’s real time analytics for physical trading decisions, driving a real impact on our industry’s carbon footprint.”

Sigmund Kyvik, Siglar Carbon’s CEO said: ”Partnering with Vortexa allows us to bring comparable emissions insight to new decision-makers in commercial shipping. This adds well to our vision of creating a common carbon language for the maritime ecosystem, making it easier to discover emissions drivers, locate efficient reduction potential and turn it into commercial opportunities.”
