Gert works as a Sales Director in Vortexa’s Geneva office.

Prior to joining Vortexa, Gert worked at a derivatives execution software company called Trading Technologies, ICE Exchange and Allegro Development, an ETRM provider, giving him experience across energy trading and risk management, and a solid network across Europe.

Fun fact: Years ago Gert ran a bar in Geneva that was well frequented by the trading community.

We wanted to find out what inspired Gert to join Vortexa, what some of his biggest milestones have been to date and what day-to-day life really looks like for a Sales Director…

What inspired you to join Vortexa?

Vortexa reached out to me last summer. I was actually in the process of starting my own company but after multiple discussions and meeting many people in London at Vortexa, I was very impressed by the culture and product vision of Vortexa. It became impossible to resist joining!

What would you say is the most interesting aspect of your role?
  • Meeting many different people and companies across Europe. I get energised by meeting new people.
  • Learning every day.
  • Working closely together with Laura “Team Geneva”.
What have been some significant milestone moments for you at Vortexa?

Signing my first deal within 6 months of starting the role!

Vortexa has an exceptional culture, this was made clear to me during my interviews and discussions.
What does day-to-day life look like for you as a Sales Director?

Every day is different. My days start with a big cup of coffee and going through emails, social networks, reading analyst briefings and planning face to face meetings or phone calls planned for the day. If time permits I’ll finish the day with a good workout session.

What key qualities make a Sales Director successful?

At Vortexa a Sales Director needs to be organised, have an open mind, be full of energy and open to travel and network. Being a team player is also extremely important, it takes a team to win most deals!

How would you describe the culture at Vortexa?

Vortexa has an exceptional culture, this was made clear to me during my interviews and discussions. The importance of the Vortexa culture and maintaining it was a driving factor for me deciding to join. People are open, helpful, kind and very smart.

What advice would you give to people hoping to join Vortexa?

Be yourself and embrace the diversity that Vortexa fosters.

Describe your working life at Vortexa in three words!
  • Exciting
  • High energy
  • interesting
