A day in the life of Wanying Zhang, Freight Analyst
Ever wondered what a day in the life looks like at Vortexa for a Freight Analyst? We sat down with Wanying to find out what her day-to-day life looks like.

Discover what a typical day looks like for LNG Analyst Miko Tan at Vortexa, including her role highlights and thoughts on company culture.
Miko is an LNG Analyst based in Singapore. Her career path has been quite a unique one - after graduating with a Materials Engineering degree from the National University of Singapore, she went on to become a high school science teacher for 4 years, then a data analyst at financial services company Bloomberg for 5 years, working on data management projects in renewable energy and LNG. Prior to joining the company, Miko worked at financial services and media company Bloomberg as a data analyst. Fun fact: I watch football and am an Arsenal fan. Come on you Gunners!
I usually start the day catching up on LNG news, then spend the rest of the day making progress on a couple of projects for the LNG product. Work involves a mix of data analysis and research, and collaborating with other teams.
The most interesting aspect of my role is getting to work on projects that haven’t been launched to clients - being part of conceptualisation and development, then seeing how different teams come together to get it going and creating the best product we think clients will love.
I was a data analyst in my previous career, supporting various research teams who were writing insights and publishing reports on renewable energy and LNG. I developed an interest in the LNG market and was keen to grow my career in this space. That led me to this opportunity with Vortexa.
A growth mindset, and adaptability.
Everyone is approachable, passionate about what they do and so willing to help. It also doesn’t matter how long you’ve been with the company - everyone is open to collaborate and listen to what you have to say.
Data analysts, market analysts, product managers, engineers and so on!
Grab a coffee and pastry, check emails/messages and plan what I need to get done for the day.
I’m learning a lot every day, I love being able to contribute to developing the product and deliver impactful solutions for our clients.
