A day in the life of Wanying Zhang, Freight Analyst
Ever wondered what a day in the life looks like at Vortexa for a Freight Analyst? We sat down with Wanying to find out what her day-to-day life looks like.

Discover Katie Parkinson's daily life as a Junior Salesforce Admin, her big milestones at Vortexa, and her perspective on our company culture.
I wanted to work for a new and growing company as I wanted to be part of building something. My thinking was confirmed once I’d been through the interview process – everyone I spoke to had a really positive and energetic attitude.
Always being presented with new things to achieve, figure out or fix – I really enjoy problem solving so it honestly feels more like fun than work sometimes! In RevOps you end up overlapping with different areas and people in the business too, which means there are always new people to connect with and projects to get involved in.
I still feel as though I’ve only just joined! But I’d say my biggest milestone has been playing a key part in managing and implementing the rollout of our new Sales enablement platform, Spekit, to the Commercial Team. Followed closely by managing to automate the routing and assignment of new Leads to the Sales team.
There is no standard day-to-day really; each day brings a new idea or a new challenge. Typically I’ll start with a cup of coffee whilst checking Slack and Asana, then I’ll write down my priorities for the day, which can vary a lot – there are always mini RevOps projects to be done, not always in Salesforce, but most of my time is spent there. I can be cleaning up data, building reports and dashboards, troubleshooting, building automation, creating validation rules, or customising our UI. We’re also given the flexibility and time for self-learning, so I’m often learning on Trailhead (Salesforce’s online learning platform).
I think a successful Salesforce Admin needs to be curious, creative and determined.
Inclusive, collaborative, and autonomous! Vortexa take pride in their hiring, and everybody here is genuinely passionate about what they do which naturally fosters a great culture.
Despite Vortexa’s rapid growth, the start-up core is still evident, and with that core comes hard work and adaptability. My advice would be… be ready for a plethora of different challenges on different days. No two days are the same, and you will never be bored in your role!
Varied, fun and rewarding.
