Q&A with Chris Dixon, Product Analyst

Chris is a Product Analyst in Vortexa's Product Team, and is responsible for helping shape the product roadmap. Prior to joining Vortexa, Chris worked at a logistics company as a product analyst and before that at Shell helping build a risk dashboard for the Environmental products trading desk.

We wanted to find out what inspired Chris to join Vortexa, what some of his biggest milestones have been to date, and what day-to-day life really looks like for the Product Analyst…

What inspired you to join Vortexa? 

Everyone I met through the entire recruitment process really couldn’t speak more highly of the company and the interesting work that they were doing. The company culture of collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing really shone through, and when I started here it didn’t disappoint!

What would you say is the most interesting aspect of your role? 

Working in the product team I get to work with most parts of the business and our clients. From helping align what cool new features the R&D teams develop, all the way through to seeing how our clients use our products!

What have been some significant milestone moments for you at Vortexa? 

Quite early on in my time here I was involved in a project to help create some metrics to show what Vortexa does best to our prospective clients. Getting to speak to many large and valued clients to really understand what was important to them, then distilling that information down into a presentation that the sales team still uses today was great, and hopefully, it’s been helpful!

What does day-to-day life look like for you as the Product Analyst**?**  

The only fixed meeting in my diary is our product team stand up where we discuss any important meetings or work done from the previous or current day. After that, it could be anything from discovery for a new feature or product to performing some analysis on how successful previous features are performing 

What key qualities make a Product Analyst successful? 

Learning how to ask the right questions to get to the right conclusions. Often what people ask for isn’t quite what they want! It’s about trying to help the clients by building what they need rather than what they want, and then asking the right questions of the data to lead us there! Also being happy to dive into the detail!

How would you describe the culture at Vortexa? 

Collaboration and innovation! No question or idea is a bad one; really useful insights often come out of conversations between people whose work might not necessarily have much crossover day to day! Everyone here really believes in the product and is in the same boat when it comes to doing all we can to improve.

What advice would you give to people hoping to join Vortexa? 

Go for it! Keep asking questions and be curious. We are a friendly bunch and are passionate about the product!
