Ever wondered what a day in the life looks like at Vortexa for a Freight Analyst? We sat down with Wanying to find out what her day-to-day life looks like.

Discover why Lucas Borgna returned to Vortexa as a data scientist, what inspired his comeback, and what he values most about working at the company.
My main motivation was that I had a really good time when I interned at Vortexa, I really enjoyed the dynamic nature of the work and that no two days were the same. I knew that I would get to work on difficult problems, with a lot of great people, so it was a no-brainer to join aboard Vortexa once again.
There was quite a bit of nostalgia, especially when I found my old messages back in Slack and I met up with all of the people I worked with. However it was also mixed with a bit of curiosity, because there was so much that was new. I think the team I was part of before at least doubled or even tripled in size, so there were a lot of new faces and groups. Overall, I felt that Vortexa was a great fit for me on my first day and there was a lot of excitement about the new challenges ahead.
I think the most enjoyable part about Vortexa is the whole cohort of people that makes it a very special place to work. Everyone is incredibly talented in a myriad of different fields, which means that every day you get to learn something new. I’ve enjoyed learning about our diverse technical stack that helps us take our models and put them to the test in the real world to deliver insights. Moreover, I’m enjoying absorbing as much as possible about the oil and gas industry and all of the enormous complexities surrounding it.
I think the main thing that stands out in Vortexa’s culture is our collaborative nature and this really shows across all the different parts of the company. As an example, I have a weekly pairing session with my manager where we typically try to tackle some of the technical aspects of a project together. To me this is incredibly valuable as it has helped me explore different ways of thinking and technical solutions. I’ve not seen this happen anywhere else and hope this can continue as we grow. Similarly, our analysts are always ready and willing to jump on a call and give you feedback on your solution. This is always really rewarding, as it reassures me that the solutions we're building will genuinely make a difference.
Dynamic, exciting, captivating, supportive, cooperative.
