Data Services Team

The Data Services Team is responsible for the fabric, the foundation and, the impressive Amazon AWS estate Vortexa uses to achieve its purpose. We use a wide variety of technologies like Java, Python, Jupyter, Apache Kafka, and AWS services like AWS MSK, EKS, RDS, Neptune, Athena, Airflow, and others.
Application Development Team

Processing thousands of rich data points per second, massing terabytes of data, processing it in real-time, and delivering it through high performance queries and low-latency APIs, along with beautiful intuitive interfaces to customers around the globe, is no small feat of science and engineering. The high availability requirements of this robust system at scale, is scrutinised by industry experts, data analysts and traders daily. The Application Development Team is responsible for delivering that data via applications, APIs, engineering pipelines, custom outbound services, external data integrations, while ensuring the strictest platform security and reliability is maintained.
Product Management Team

The Product Team is responsible for leading collaborative product discovery to ensure solutions are usable by customers, valuable to customers, technically feasible and commercially viable. We prioritise the roadmap and backlog to align with the company strategy and vision. All while ensuring that stakeholders are aligned and the company focuses its efforts on the right functionality, at the right time, with clarity over the scope and KPIs.
Data Production Team

The Data Production Team is responsible for all of Vortexa’s data. It ranges from mixing raw satellite data from 400,000 vessels with rich but incomplete text data, to generating high-value forecasts such as the vessel destination, cargo onboard, ship-to-ship transfer detection, dark vessels, congestion, future prices, and many more. The team has built a variety of procedural, statistical and machine learning models that enabled us to provide the most accurate and comprehensive view of energy flows. We take pride in applying cutting-edge research to real-world problems in a robust, long-lasting and maintainable way. The quality of our data is continuously benchmarked and assessed by experienced in-house market and data analysts to ensure the quality of our predictions.
