A day in the life of… Alan Kok, Sales Director
Ever wondered what a day in life looks like at Vortexa for a Sales Director? We sat down with Alan to find out what his day-to-day life looks like, what is the most interesting aspect of his role, and what he really thinks of our company culture…
What does day-to-day life in your role look like?
Unpredictable, as every client and prospect is different.
Challenging as it is the energy market – anything can happen on any day.
Organised, to avoid any sort of clashes in the calendar.
What would you say is the most interesting aspect of your role?
Sales! It’s not just pure sales as the customer engagement is crucially important, as you get to know what they do, what makes them successful and how we can help them achieve that.
What was your path to joining Vortexa?
I had three interviews; starting with Atin (the MD of APAC), then Christopher (the CRO) and finally Fabio (the CEO). Vortexa was looking for someone who was self-motivated, could engage well with account management and had strategies for helping to bring Vortexa to the next level. I was motivated by all three of my interviews to be part of the Vortexa team and be involved in their ambitious growth plans.
The cohesiveness, helpfulness and passion of everyone in Vortexa - it’s what makes it a great place to work!
What kind of qualities does a person need to have to succeed at Vortexa?
Be a team player, and never walk alone.
What do you like about the culture?
The cohesiveness, helpfulness and passion of everyone in Vortexa – it’s what makes it a great place to work!
Who do you collaborate with?
A lot of people and teams across the business! The market and data analyst team (in engaging the value added services during customer engagement), the product specialist team (to share the value of Vortexa’s platform), the support team (getting questions answered and resolutions to problems), the leadership team (their commitment to all existing and new customers/prospects is great to see) and the marketing team (who help expand the brand name of Vortexa in the APAC region).
What are the first three things you do on a Monday morning?
Grab a milky coffee, confirm appointments, and follow up on all the messages I’ve received through various communication channels.
What energises you most about working as a Sales Director at Vortexa?
Engaging with clients and prospects, getting to know them and what they do, and then of course when they decide to work with us because they see the value of Vortexa’s products and services and how we can help them be successful.
