Min is a Full Stack Engineer working in the Application Development team at Votexa’s London office.
Prior to joining the company, Min worked at Barclays as a software developer in system architecture.

What does day-to-day life in your role look like?

Everyday is different! I could be developing a new feature, triaging support issues or pair-programming. The only constant is the morning team standup where I update the team on the previous day’s progress and raise any blockers before planning the rest of my workday.

What would you say is the most interesting aspect of your role?

The variety of work in a complex domain. My role as a Full Stack Engineer requires me to work with many different technologies. Coupled with the various data domains, I am always being challenged.

What was your path to joining Vortexa?

I joined Vortexa after completing the Technology Graduate Programme at Barclays. Having worked in a large corporate environment, I was keen to work in a company in their scale-up phase.

Everyone is keen to chime in with their experience and knowledge on the matter, which fosters a very effective public forum for sharing knowledge.

What kind of qualities does a person need to have to succeed at Vortexa?

A person needs to always be curious and be open to learning.

What do you like about the culture?

I love that I don’t have to be shy about my lack of knowledge in a particular subject. Everyone is keen to chime in with their experience and knowledge on the matter, which fosters a very effective public forum for sharing knowledge.

Who do you collaborate with?

Most of the time I work with my immediate team in ADT. There are times where I collaborate with Product and PMMT to better understand our user’s needs.

What are the first three things you do on a Monday morning?

Coffee, check Slack, and plan for the week!

What energises you most about working as a Full Stack Engineer at Vortexa?

As a Full Stack Engineer, we work on all the technology to deliver Vortexa’s intelligence data to our users. I love the feeling of making energy markets more accessible, understandable and transparent by creating wonderful user experiences. This is what technology should do: make human lives easier, and I am extremely lucky to be able to contribute to Vortexa’s mission.
